Our Mission StatementSASPA is an organization designed to increase community awareness of dance and to aid dancers, choreographers, and dance companies in the San Antonio area. The organization is committed to ensuring the presence of dance as a vital and growing art form reflecting the rich cultural diversity of the community.
HistorySASPA was founded in 1984 by Nancy Grossenbacher, with two major goals: To provide a quality foundation in the performing arts for those who desire the arts as a career and to instill and perpetuate a genuine appreciation of the arts in our youth, thereby nurturing the artistic growth of San Antonio for future generations.
What We Teach.
SASPA’s curriculum includes levels of training taught using techniques in dance that reflect the traditionally based Russian (Vaganova) and Italian (Cecchetti) styles of ballet. The jazz is a cross section of contemporary high energy west coast combined with east coast Broadway. Tap is taught in a Broadway style with rhythm influence.
